    About Camp

    Make the transition to intercollegiate riding with our College-Bound Equestrian Camp.

    Designed for rising high school sophomore, juniors, and seniors.  Our camp session will focus on building not only riding skills of students, but also increasing their knowledge about college riding and the overall college search process.

    Who should join us!

    Co-educational camp for male and female equestrians in the class of 2021, 2022, 2023

    Riding disciplines

    • Hunt seat (flat and fences)
    • Western (horsemanship and reining)

    Prerequisites

    Hunt seat riders must be capable of tacking up their own horses, walk, trot, and canter on the flat, and jumping courses of 2'.

    Western riders must be capable of tacking up their own horses, walk, jog, and lope, and understand basic horsemanship patterns.

    Students will ride twice per day and also attend unmounted lectures on college riding and other college-related topics.

    Student Housing

    Students will be housed in a residence hall on the Albion College main campus and eat their meals (three per day) in Baldwin Hall, the campus dining facility.

    Students will be shuttled to and from campus to the equestrian center each day (a three minute drive).

    Supervision

    All riding instruction is given by the coaches of the Albion College equestrian teams; students are supervised in the barn, dining hall, and residence halls by current Albion College student equestrians, who serve as camp counselors.

    Recreation

    Albion's Dow Recreation and Wellness Center provides an opportunity for campers to swim and play games after finishing at the equestrian center for the day. All after-hours activities and excursions are closely supervised by camp counselors.
